Charter
The Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA) Subcommittee on Software Quality Assurance (ScSQA) is responsible for the development, revision, and interpretation of quality assurance requirements, guidance, and glossary of terms related to software quality associated with:
• the acquisition, development, operation, maintenance, use, and retirement of software in the design, construction, and operation of nuclear facilities.
The ScSQA provides technical expertise as requested by the Board of Nuclear Codes and Standards (BNCS).
The ScSQA interfaces with other standard development organizations (e.g., IEEE, ANS) and industry organizations to maintain awareness of industry software trends beneficial to NQA-1 requirements, guidance, and derivative products.
Reporting Structure
The ScSQA reports to the NQA Standards Committee. Leadership of the Subcommittee participates on the NQA Standards Executive Committee. Membership of the Subcommittee participates in various cross-Subcommittee activities as assigned by the NQA Standards or Executive Committees.
NQA-1 Standards, Derivative Products, and Administrative Document Responsibilities
The ScSQA is responsible for the development and maintenance of the following NQA-1 parts, derivate products, and NQA administrative documents such as:
Requirement 3, Design Control - Section 401, Section 800
Requirement 11, Test Control - Section 200(a) (partial), Section 400, Section 602
Subpart 2.7, Quality Assurance Requirements for Computer Software for Nuclear Facility Applications
Subpart 3.1-3.1, Implementing Guidance for Part I, Requirement 3: Design Control Section 401
Subpart 3.2-2.7.1, Implementing Guidance for Part II, Requirement 2.7: Quality Assurance Requirements for Computer Software for Nuclear Facility Applications
Subpart 3.2-2.7.2, Implementing Guidance on the Requirements of NQA-1, Parts I and II for Software Used for Nuclear Facility Applications
Subpart 3.2-2.14, Implementing Guidance for Part II, Requirement 2.14: Quality Assurance Requirements for Commercial Grade Items and Services, Commercial Grade Computer Programs, and Software Services
