Charter
The Nuclear Quality Assurance (NQA) Subcommittee on Waste Management is responsible for the development, revision, and interpretation of quality assurance requirements, guidance, and glossary of terms related to waste management associated with:
•   management, transportation, and disposal of radioactive materials and waste
•   spent fuel storage
•   high-level waste storage

The ScWM provides technical expertise as requested by the Board of Nuclear Codes and Standards (BNCS).

The ScWM interfaces with other standards organizations and industry organizations to maintain awareness of industry software trends beneficial to NQA-1 requirements, guidance, and derivative products.

Reporting Structure
The ScWM reports to the NQA Standards Committee. Leadership of the Subcommittee participates on the NQA Standards Executive Committee. Membership of the Subcommittee participates in various cross-Subcommittee activities as assigned by the NQA Standards or Executive Committees.

NQA-1 Standards, Derivative Products, and Administrative Document Responsibilities
The ScWM is responsible for the development and maintenance of the following NQA-1 parts, derivate products, and NQA administrative documents such as:

Subpart 2.20,    Quality Assurance Requirements for Subsurface Investigations for Nuclear Facilities
Subpart 2.25,    Quality Assurance Requirements for High-Level Waste Custodians

Subpart 3.2-2.20,    Implementing Guidance for Part II, Requirement 2.20; Quality Assurance Requirements for Subsurface Investigations for Nuclear Power Plants, Sample Control and Identification

Subpart 3.3,    Nonmandatory Guidance on Quality Assurance Program requirements for Collection of Scientific and Technical Information for Site Characterization of High-Level Nuclear Waste Repositories

Subpart 4.1.3,    Guidance on the Use of NQA-1-2015 for Compliance With 10 CFR 71 and/or 10 CFR 72 Requirements

Subpart 4.2.3,    Guidance on Qualification of Existing Data
Subpart 4.2.4,    Guidance on the Control of Scientific Investigations
Subpart 4.2.6,    Guidance on Quality Assurance for Decommissioning of Nuclear Facilities
Subpart 4.2.7,    Guidance on Peer Review
Subpart 4.2.9,    Guidance on Low-Level Waste Shipping from Nuclear Facilities
