Charter

The SGRRA oversees the work of three working groups, the Working Group Design and Programs, the Working Group Welding and Special Repair Processes, and the Working Group on Non-Metallic Repair/Replacement Activities. As such, it is responsible for: (1) defining, clarifying, and/or prescribing rules for design and design reconciliation for repair/replacement activities under the jurisdiction of ASME Section XI, (2) providing the scope, responsibilities and program requirements for repair/replacement activities on Class 1, 2, 3, CC and MC components and their supports. These responsibilities include; defining the components subject to the Section XI rules for repair/replacement activities, defining the administrative controls for repair/replacement activities, addressing procurement, examination and testing issues, addressing certification, stamping, and quality control/assurance issues, defining the responsibilities for organizations involved in repair/replacement activities, (3) defining, clarifying, and/or prescribing rules for welding, brazing, metal removal, and special repair processes on Class 1, 2, 3, and MC components and their supports, development of new/alternative processes for performing welding in nuclear power plants, development of new/alternative special repair processes, addressing repair/replacement activity requirements for brazing and metal removal, addressing repair/replacement activity requirements for heat exchanger tubing, and (4) developing repair/replacement activities involving non-metallic materials such as HDPE and Carbon Fiber composites.
