Charter

The Working Group on Pipe Flaw Evaluation is charged with the development of analysis methodology, evaluation procedures, and acceptance criteria for assessing the significance of flaws in piping and pipe fittings.  The primary focus of the Working Group activities will be synthesizing analysis methods and material property data into Code rules for establishing allowable flaw sizes under all relevant loading conditions and service environments.  The Working Group activities will include developing and maintaining rules for the evaluation of flaws exceeding the acceptance standards for Class 1, 2, and 3 systems and other piping systems whose inspection is required by Section XI.  The scope of applications of these rules will include evaluation of in-service inspection flaws, re-qualification of piping and pipe fittings, fitness-for-service, and life extension.
