The calibration, performance evaluation, uncertainty evaluation, and specification of dimensional measuring instruments and gages and the methods of their use for measuring various geometrical characteristics such as lengths, plane surfaces, angles, circles, cylinders, cones, spheres, and tori, as well as profiles.
The B89 Committee is comprised of experts in the field of Metrology. The Committee works on writing new Metrology American National Standards, revising current Standards, and providing for the coordination of National and International Standards. The B89 Committee operates under procedures meeting the criteria for American National Standards.
